CO2 (Carbon Dioxide)is a gas that is odorless. It is also an essential part of the air we breathe. CO2 is important to all life on this great planet we call earth. The atmosphere is made up of .03%(300 parts per million) CO2. Needles to say we need CO2 or we will all not be around for very long.

CO2 in the air makes up most of the carbon found in plants. Plants are comprised of 85-90% carbon and water.

There are other elements that make up plants physiology like:

  • Nitrogen
  • Calcium
  • Magnesium
  • Potassium
  • Phosphorous
  • Trace Elements(small percentage)

Plants take in CO2 through the pores(Known as Stomata) in their leaves. This process happens During the day. It is well know that this part of a process called photosynthesis. A result of this process is tha oxygen we breath. When CO2 is taken into the plant photosynthesis converts the CO2 in organic compounds like sugars. The earth's atmosphere is made up of about 20% Oxygen. And of that 20% most of that is generated from plants.

The sugars made in the photosynthesis process like C6H12O6, give the plant the energy it needs and are formed into complex parts like:

  • Carbohydrates
  • Amino Acids
  • Protein
  • Cellulose
  • Leaves
  • Roots
  • Branches
  • Flowers

CO2 Benefits

Plants benefit from more CO2 and because of that all the fuels we burn today is putting more CO2 in the air. The CO2 in the air has increased to 300ppm up from 270ppm. That is roughly 11%, a fair amount of a increase over the last 40 years.

If you increase the amount of available CO2 in your grow room. You can provide your Mary Jane with a optimal growing environment. This will effectively bring larger yields and put more of that medicine in you jar.
